Alberta belongs in Canada. This historic, citizen‑initiated petition gives Albertans a clear, democratic voice to affirm it.
What is at stake
Talk of separation, even as a negotiating tactic or as a step toward joining the United States, creates damaging uncertainty. It chills investment, drives away talent, and deepens social divisions at home. The longer the question lingers, the higher the economic and community cost for Alberta, and for Canada.
This citizen‑initiated petition is how Albertans give a clear, democratic answer: that we remain in Canada.
A strong result reduces uncertainty, restores stability, and lets us focus on practical solutions that move Alberta forward.
How Albertans Are Standing Up
We are using Alberta’s Citizen Initiative process to place a simple, unifying question before voters:
The question
Do you agree that Alberta should remain in Canada?
To qualify, we must collect nearly 300,000 verified signatures in just 90 days. That requires thousands of volunteers, many public signing locations, and clear information for the public.

How the citizen initiative works
1. Volunteers register to help collect signatures following Elections Alberta rules.
2. Eligible Alberta voters sign the petition in person with their name and address as they appear on the voter list.
3. Signatures are verified and submitted to Elections Alberta.
4. If the threshold is met within the time limit, a referendum question can proceed.
Who can sign
Any eligible Alberta voter can sign. Signatures must be collected in person. If you’re unsure about eligibility, visit a signing location and a volunteer can help.
